Kitengela Town will become the latest Metropolitan Town to have a Train station in new plans announced by the Kajiado County Governor Joseph Ole Lenku and the National Government Chief Administrative Secretary Transport Chris Obure.
The leaders made the remarks when they presided over the construction of an access road (Deliverance Road) that will pave the way for the construction of the Railway station.
“We are delighted to initiate the various projects in this Town including the construction of the access Road that will pave the way for the construction of a train station that will ease the movement of people to Nairobi and Back” Lenku said.
The CAS in a speech read on behalf of the transport and infrastructure CS James Macharia said that the project a falls under the National Government and development partners have initiative dubbed Metropolitan Services Improvement Project(NaMSIP),Kenya Municipal Program(KMP),Kenya Urban Support Program(KUSP) all supported with loans from the World bank.
“Projects being implemented in Kajiado included construction of Access Road to Kitengela Station, Installation of Rain Water Harvesting at Kitengela School, installation of street lighting in Kitengela, Ngong and Ongata Rongai and construction of a market in Ngong among others all at an estimated cost of 1.5 Billion Shillings” Obure said.
The leaders made the above remarks when they officially opened the Kitengela Bus Park that had been under construction for the last 6 months at a cost of 94 million shillings.
Other Projects initiated in the town was the drilling of the borehole at Kitengela Market.
