Norwich will not feature in the next English Premiere League’s (EPL) season. This is after West Ham comfortably ran away with a 4-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at Carrow Road earning them a direct ticket to relegation.
It was the Michail Antonio’s hat-trick which started 11 minutes into first half following a Jarrod Bowen corner. Antonio netted the ball. However, the game turned into a real contest. Norwich top scorer Teemu Pukki wasted their best chance when he headed Jamal Lewis cross of the post.
Antonio’s second goal came right on half-time after diverting a header from Mark Noble cross into the far corner of the net.
His fight against the Canaries continued in the second half after successfully completing his hat-trick few minutes into the second half. Antonio hammered the last nail into the Norwich coffin ending their campaign to survive the EPL but moving the hammers six points above the relegation place.
Norwich manager Daniel Farke had admitted that his team were destined for the drop before the match.
“Even if we win the last four games, I would say with at least a 99 per cent guarantee it would not be enough to stay in this league,” he said in an interview with reporters.
With only three matches remaining, the Canaries sit at the bottom of the table with 21 points heading straight back to the Championship. They have suffered 24th defeats of the season at home. They have only won a total of five games all season, conceding 63 goals while only managing to score 23 at the other end of the pitch.
