Popular television actor Charles Bukeko known to many by his stage name Papa Shirandula, is dead.
Shirandula’s family confirmed the news and disclosed that he died at the Karen Hospital where he was receiving treatment since Monday, July 13.
It is an end of an era for legendary actor who featured in his Tv series Papa Shirandula on Citizen TV which kept thousands of families glued to the TV for decades.
Among those who have eulogized with Kenyans is Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua. In his twitter account, he stated: “Rest in peace Charles Bukeko alias Papa Shirandula. You were a self-made man who epitomised the joy and optimism of Kenyans. You made a huge contribution to the entertainment industry in Kenya. We will miss you. May God give peace, comfort and strength to your family and fans.”

Council of Governors Chair Wycliffe Oparanya said: “It is with great sadness that have I learnt of the death of comedian Charles Bukeko popularly known as Papa Shirandula. The cruel hand of death has robbed the comedy industry an iconic figure whose comedy did not only entertain but was also educative to many generations.”
