The Export processing Zone Authority has shortlisted 16 names in the race to appoint a substantive CEO after one and a half years.
Trade Secretary Peter Munya Axed Fanuel Odede as the Chief Executive officer in September 2018 and named George Makateto to replace him.
The courts however stopped the appointment after Mr.Odeda sued against his dismissal.Currently Mr.Stephen Odua has been CEO on an acting capacity.
The Agency Board is set to hold an online meeting in line with social distancing rules to ensure the hiring of the CEO is on course.
“This being an urgent business,i have requested the necessary arrangements for physical attendance by all committee Chairs and also ensure that all appropriate ICT platform is set up to enable all of us participate in a fair and transparent interview process for the Authority’s substantive CEO” read an internal Memo by Board Chairman Paul Gicheru.
The Authority has been riddled by scandals including a Kshs 1.3Billion Kshs tender inflation claims in which 13 companies received hundreds of millions of shillings for goods and services that were never supplied while other contracts were awarded to firms associated with Board Members and government officials.
