The Ministry of Health has announced that 606 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in the country. Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe said the new patients had pushed Kenya’s COVID-19 tally past the 18,000 mark and settled at 18,581. They were identified following testing of 4,888 samples. Seventy-five (75) more patients, Kagwe revealed, had recovered from the virus pushing Kenya’s number of recoveries from 7,833 recorded on Monday, July 27 to 7,908.
The CS further announced the death of 14 more patients. This increased the death toll to 299 from 285. Kagwe reiterated President Uhuru Kenyatta’s order that outlawed the sale of alcohol in bars and restaurants but clarified that citizens could still buy their drinks from supermarkets or wines and spirit shops and consume them from their homes.
